So I have 8 years of experience at Accenture in various projects, mostly cloud security. If I apply to GRC in another company with not much background in GRC maybe just 1 year internal to Accenture , would I be going in as entry level in GRC specifically or would be 8 year of other security and tech count towards the new GRC position? I’m wondering how to avoid an entry level pay or position in GRC. I only have scrum cert and undergrad in IT from top 25 colleges.

How are you going to get into advanced GRC roles without knowing GRC? Maybe shoot for GRC PM? And then learn GRC from the specialists.

So you’re saying taking a entry level job in grc is almost like career change even though I have experience in other aspects of security

What type of security background do you have? Cloud security is pretty broad. If you’re more technical cloud engineering vs cloud risk, might be learning curve. GRC is more communication, policy, etc. also they typically look for CISA, CRISC, or CISSP for those roles.

Have you worked with compliance frameworks, policy documentation, and auditors before? Then that also counts as some GRC experience.

Just 1 year I have. Rest was cloud migration or implementation of security solutions like MFA

Hi! I started at a new company 2 months ago and while I’m really enjoying my job so far, I’m having a hard time gauging whether or not I’m doing a “good job.” My role seems to be always evolving, which is fine and I actually enjoy being a support to the greater marketing team, but I feel like I need better defined targets to make sure I’m meeting expectations. Also, when I ask my boss what they’d like to see, I don’t ever get a clear answer. (Cont’d in comments)
