So, I saw a post on health equity on LinkedIn the other day. It simply asked a question: What is the one thing or most important thing that stands in the way of achieving health equity? The first thing that popped into my head was "white people," but I didn't dare post it on such a public forum. What do you think?

Yeah, that's one of those situations where you're not wrong, but it's probably smart not to post it. The problem is that bigotry and racism just explain so much that is wrong in society. But when you say it out loud, suddenly people act like you're imagining things or talking crazy.

That isn’t a wrong answer! My first thought is money. Or at least the comfort in knowing you have it when/if needed. General checkups are fine, low cost, but anything even slightly outside of that is whatever they feel like charging you. It’s scary for some people having no real idea what kind of bills they will walk away with.

Yep. It’s racism period. There are too many examples of pushes for equality, including health being shut down due to racism. As someone who works at a health care non profit and has been in the space for 10 years, I can say it’s a direct issue.

I lived in tampa in my early 20s and am now in my late 30s and looking to move back. One of the reason I left is because I felt I had too much energy for the city for a single young professional, but now husband is from there and we have a kid but we are both social people. Do you guys find it easy to meet interesting people and has the city gotten any more fun?
