So I’ve been in my role since about the beginning of April. Even though I accepted the offer that was given to me is it too soon to talk about more money?

On one hand, closed mouths don’t get fed! You can always ask about more money, find out when reviews are normally handled, and maybe get an idea of what annual raises look like. You could also see where you stand with your performance. In most management positions, raises are performance based and handled once a year.

helpful

Depends on the company and your role. If you've taken on a lot of extra work and are knocking things out of the park, you might be able to secure a raise. I wouldn't expect it though. The rule of thumb is to wait a year before asking for a raise.

I normally only bring it up during the normal end of year review process. my company does it in April so I always wait until then to discuss

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?
