So LinkedIn just taught me that I need to work harder, not smarter. That people who enjoy 'leisure time' deserves to be poor, and have only themselves to blame for not getting to enjoy a stress-induced heart attack at 50 like the most successful people. Am I taking in the wrong lesson from this LinkedIn Evangelist? What are your thoughts on this take of his?

Every time I get on LinkedIn I immediately get off because I’m quickly reminded that so many people on that app need to go outside and touch grass.

😂 just silly

He thinks he will make it because he works on a train and it's a sign that you made it so that you are in first class? What a weirdo.

Meh, it's typical LinkedIn self-promotion but I think also a bit of a self-own. I would think the realization of "I think I'm doing what first class is doing but here I sit in economy no better than the cretins" might trigger some sort of self-reflection that maybe simply opening a laptop on a train isn't the ticket to riches he believes it to be

Judgy McJudgerson is not working smart enough if he is sitting in 2nd class, in a suit, working on his laptop and NOT taking some downtime on the commute home.

I don't work on airplanes because I handle confidential info and I've signed NDAs. If these people are working on sensitive projects, the passengers around them will see everything. I know, because I've gained competitive intelligence from careless folks like them.

It just reminds me that if there is room and wifi, we are working and there is no work/life balance really.

First class bit is cringe. But the part around those making money work hard is not new or news.

In London, he’ll probably have his nice laptop “borrowed” after a few trips.

I have a job interview today that I’m actually nervous about. That’s a good sign right? All my other ones I was dreading or just wanted to skip. I’ve only been jobless for 2 weeks - I would like more time, but this is a company and boss that we’ve been dancing around each other for about a year. And they have a position open at the same time I need a job.

on the way to an interview this morning eating a sandwich. I walked past a homeless man who had a stray cat perched on his lap. He asked for a bite of sandwich to feed them both as they hadn’t eaten in days. I gave the whole sandwich over and headed off to the interview. As I got to the interview room there was a large executive chair facing away from me. The chair turned and on top was a mirror. When looking in the mirror I could see the cat. I am the cat. There really is such a direct correlation between cringey title and cringey posts.

Before LinkedIn...to me, the king of professional cringey was Shingy. Do you guys remember him? He was aol's overpaid "digital prophet" and got paid to visit companies at lunchtime and babble the same kind of nonsense we now call "LinkedIn cringe".
