Sometimes I feel so alone as a therapist… Why does the helping field have little to no benefits when we are always giving so much of ourselves to this work? I am so exhausted and very quickly reaching a point of wanting to move on to something else— which breaks my heart because I am so passionate about what I do…

I feel you. As a therapist myself, I sometimes feel the same way. I would encourage you to speak with your supervisor about your feelings because it sounds like you are burning out. This happens a lot in our line of work. We give so much of ourselves to the clients that we forget to care for ourselves. If you can, take a break (if your agency has PTO, use it). Practice self-care!

Not to harp on your answer, something I lean away from is cookie cutter answers anyone could come up with from any webpage, forum, etc. Being different than the one before or next, can help clients sometimes appreciate someone who is real and genuine vs someone who has the same thought out answer for everything. 😊

Yes it is lonely- no one but peers in the field really understands the immense burdens we carry that we can’t speak in or often times resolve- little recognition with low pay makes for a very sad career I tell people looking into getting their MSW think 3 times and then think again

Can anyone offer insight into the annualized equivalent compensation of contract consulting gigs in B4 vs the equivalent FT positions?

I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

Hi Everyone,

I am currently working at Meta as a Recruiting Coordinator under contract. That contract will soon come to term in July. There hasn’t been any talks about extending my contract, so I am getting very nervous about potentially being out of work in July. I am a first gen corporate worker, and I have about 5 years of experience in recruitment. I have also recently finished my Masters in HR Management, so I wanted to jump on here and see if anyone has any tips for landing a new role?

What do you think about switching tech stacks vs becoming an expert in one stack? I am a backend Java engineer, and have solely used Java since I've started my software engineering career about 2 years ago. What is intermittent fasting? Someone was talking about it the other day and I’ve never heard of it...could be just living under a rock!

I’ve been depressed for years now and this past week I lost a dog I’ve had for 15 years; he was one of the only bright spots in my life and I’ve just found it so hard to focus or motivate myself on anything after this. I genuinely feel like I’m at rock bottom, Idk if I’m crazy to feel that way bc of a dog but I used to be able to control this and put up a front but now my depression and anxiety are starting to leak into my work conversations completely unintentionally, I wish this would stop :(

How much does an EAP psychologist make in Sydney? I feel that while I’m making $90k, it’s only about $45/hr which is a joke when the standard session prices are around $200/hr. And my company charges customers upward of $250/hr but only pays a small fraction. I’ve been with the same company for 3yrs and want to negotiate higher pay but want to know what others offer. Thank you
