Don’t worry. Consider all the people over 40 who are discriminated against because they’re too experienced. Door swings both ways.
Why would that be helpful @Pwc?
OP, I’m sorry you experienced that. I would review their practices on Glassdoor and move on
Sorry to hear that OP but companies suck. Just the way of the world.
It is helpful because it provides perspective. Young people can be very disrespectful to older employees at the firm and those same employees have it tough outside as well. When a young person experiences it early on, this perspective should be his/her wake up call to not do this to anyone younger or older. That’s why it is helpful.
Hiring managers make some assumptions on what are the qualifications in a candidate to begin the process . During the process , sometimes they find that the kind of competence they need doesn’t match the original job requirements . What you experienced is probably one of those cases - it’s unfortunate that it happened to you . Dust off and move on
Well in this case it was my lack of experience that an older employee would have is the reason I didn't get the job. Just pretty ridiculous they didn't know that off the bat
What you are projecting has nothing to do with the reality of OP’s situation. Using OP’s situation to be preachy is less than ideal, PwC1. That’s the last I’ll comment on that.
Again OP, given that you had a candid conversation with them the whole way through which detailed your experience and time in industry, I’m sorry they wasted your time
C1, you may have also bombed a later interview, it really doesn't matter.
Happened to me with a product firm. Had a last minute phone interview, was spiked the week before my travel plans.
It's a good opportunity to remember that interviews aren't to your benefit, they're for the hiring company. We do this all the time with staff - dragging out offers, arbitrary target numbers, you name it.
What company is this?
I want to say which company but not sure I should
They wasted your time. Sorry about that.
Deloitte 1 don't think it was my interview
