Any tips for someone who discounts good feedback but heavily focuses on the opportunities to improve? So much that I have a fear of getting fired despite receiving overall good feedback. I started a new job earlier this year. The function of the role and industry is new to me. My manager told me he generally has higher expectations than the rest of the organization. Originally, I viewed this as a great learning opportunity but can't help to think I'm not cut out for this and fear the worst.

I have a high technical aptitude but I’m wondering how much weight do they hold as far as new opportunities if I haven’t used them in work but understand them well enough to speak through the information and pass the certs. Any insight is helpful only been in a consulting 1.5 yr and want to expand

Thoughts on Indexed Universal Life Insurance as an investment vehicle? I hear the pros and cons from the sellers of this, whom I understand gain heavy commissions. But wanted to get thoughts from investors and if this isn't a good vehicle, what alternative investment vehicles do you suggest (outside of stocks, Roth, 401k, and real estate)? Looking to diversify my portfolio. I'm 43, married, income 600k combined, and we have 2 properties worth 3m and investment accounts worth ~2-3m. Thanks!

Back again with a question for the McKinsey folks! 1. Is it true that if you are internal (specifically PD) you are not eligible for a performance bonus? Just base and the 401K profit sharing? 2. I know McKinsey offers a percentage of your salary into a retirement fund. The recruiter painted it as a range (from 7-12%), but other fish in the main consulting bowl said it’s either 7 OR 12% (no in between) based off of if you’re client facing or internal - which is true? Anyone here who started their consulting careers later in life? Always seeing posts about how young people make it to P... wondering about the other stories. I started as a C at 29 (yes, unfortunately, I fall into the bucket of exp hire hired at a lower level...), made M at 33. Doing well but also feeling like I’m already too old to aim to be a P. Hoping for some perspectives.

I did an internship with a boutique consulting firm that got extended for a full year while I was in school full time as well. On top of that I have 16 months of experience in my B4/T2 consulting firm, and I have a ton of other experience on top of that interning at banks and startups. TLDR; I have 3+ years of experience, 1 year at a small consulting shop and 1.5 years at B4 upon graduation. Is it true that none of this experience really counts?
