What do your objectives for success look like? Your manager should have clearly defined what success at 3 months looks like, and hopefully 6 months into the role as well. Evaluate the things you need to do to fill in any knowledge/skill gaps to achieve those outcomes and put a plan together. I’d recommend sharing this with your manager too who should help you identify if there are any resources and training to help you bridge those gaps.
I echo this - the best thing I did for myself when I came in as a senior resource for the first time was creating a 90 day plan based upon the direction set by my manager. Break down the objectives you have (you should have some) into discrete activities and demonstrate how the results of these activities feed the objectives. Put it on a digital whiteboard with post its breaking it all down and a kanban board.
You’re expected to figure a lot more out by yourself, but you can reasonably expect directional guidance from your manager through open conversations with them. Be proactive, book in the time you need with them and your stakeholders. Get your face around the business and meeting these people. You need to establish a network to succeed in your objectives.

It’s often not how much you learn or even the volume of work. It’s usually did the value you provide matter to the people judging you. That vision is what leaders come up with. Down in the trenches we have to figure out how to execute on that vision. Where a lot of people go off the rails is spending significant time on stuff no one cares about. If no one cares I drop it on the ground, move on.
THIS!
Thanks both, really really helpful stuff. Apologies forgot to give more context, it is a role in the industry with a software company and I come from a consulting background, so imagine how much of an imposter i feel every day :(
Yeah it is challenging tbh but i got this, many thanks S1 for your encouragement!
