Strategy& folks: are you on a hiring freeze? Trying to look for positions online and LinkedIn, but cannot find anything!

As someone who has a lot of experience in healthcare with extensive work experience in program coordination/ management, I’m finding it difficult to break into tech. I feel so stuck at where I am. I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs and nothing. Any advice for me? I would love a referral from anyone in this community.

What is a polite way to handle referral requests from strangers/acquaintances with whom you haven’t worked in a sufficient capacity ? I am a noogler and often get approached for a quick chat on my role/opportunities at google which turns into a referral request. I understand that one should be able to speak to the candidate’s skillset but given how everyone in going through a challenging time during the pandemic I wanted to understand the best way to make the conversation less uncomfortable
