Question about what to do next. I’ve maxed out everything—401k, HSA, IRA, backdoor Roth 401k. My bills are all paid. Sanity check needed. We own a home we paid $280k for, 6 years ago. We've begun to outgrow it and are debating building on vs buying.

Building would probably be $350k, would take about 4 months, and would require us to move out temporarily (likely 50-75% of that time), but then we'd have *exactly* what we want. Buying would cost ~$650k (plus $59k in closing costs to sell and buy).

House is worth $400k if we do nothing; addition would likely double value.

What would you do? Build or buy?

I maxed out my Roth IRA contribution thinking I'd be safe from the income limits however my wife brought way too much $$$ than anticipated this year. I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

In ELSS mutual the total we can save save tax is 1.5lakh. Do we need to invest yearly 1.5 lakh yearly to save tax? I am planning to have a Sip of 5000 monthly for 3 years. So total money invested in 3 years will be around 60000 * 3 = 180000.
Will that be sufficient to save tax or Do I need to have a sip of 12000 per month to save tax.
