Chase sapphire reserve. No question
Not anymore. That’s why I’m ditching the AmEx now
Wait, wait....there are companies that don’t reimburse expenses?
They probably mean being allowed to use a personal card and getting reimbursed later, then using the Corp card
I have the reserve too. Worth it.
Platinum for flights. 5x points vs CSRs 3x points.
Also get a hotel card, depending on what chain you stay.
CSR points are worth about double Amex or hotel points, so booking everything on CSR still makes sense
Amex Plat gives you ~50% more value than CSR on flights (9.5 vs 6.3 cents per dollar spent)- same on hotels in that it’s 5X vs 3X points, but everything has to be booked via the Amex platform. CSR also gives 3X on dining which is much better. Overall I like CSR better but when I had both cards I’d use Amex for flights where applicable and CSR for everything else
Are yall able to book flights directly rather than through your company's portal?
If you can book everything directly on personal cards, I would do an airline card (2x miles) , hotel card (5-6x points), and Amex Gold (4x dining). Costs $450-500/yr, same as CSR or Amex plat, but more targeted earning in 3 of the biggest spend sectors - airfare, hotel, and dining.
It really depends on if you want to transfer points or not. All depends on what you value. If able to book flights and reimburse the AMEX platinum (5x flights) and Gold Card (4x dining) is a good combo. You can transfer to Marriott or delta; or spend on booking trips through AMEX but the rate is .01 per point so it’s a meh return.
The Chase platform is nice because you can use the CSR for 3x everything on flights, hotels and dining. However, as some same you can get better return on hotels if using a hotel card. I do like chase since I can book hotels that are not apart of major hotel chains (all inclusives) for .015 per point.
Net, it all depends on what you value and how you use the points
How do people get both the CSR and Amex plat? The flight increase in points on flights is offset by the annual fee...that's $450+$550 annual fee. And a lot of the perks overlap.
