Tech consultant that just landed an AWS SA L5 role @ 160k base and 1st year TC of ~210k in the NE. Obviously super excited for the possibility of exiting to FAANG but slightly dampened by the fact the tc will be basically flat from where I am... and lower than my base - they wouldn’t budge on the overall number unfortunately. I was expecting something around 225ish based on blind/fishbowl/levelsfyi but no dice. Is it a decent offer? Am I splitting hairs here?

Besides the infamous google sheet and Glassdoor, where are you all looking to make sure you’re been compensated appropriately? I feel like our little niche is tricky to do proper comp research on, but it’s possible I’m missing something…

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? I am being asked to move to Richmond, VA for Sr. Mgr. Supply Chain Analytics role in an organization that is dire need of help.

I am currently at 146k TC, they are offering 190k TC.

I originally wanted a director level role to set the strategy, process, and tools.

Instead I am just being asked to develop the tools.

My hypothesis is a clear lack of strategy and no accountability for process compliance will mean any tools developed will fail.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.
