Sounds like you might not be underpaid in the current market then. I would caution moving into HR if compensation is a concern.
Do you have advice on how to move up through the marketing field? I have two years of experience from my current job, and can only get interviews from small companies with no benefits right now.
Going through referrals has always been the best route to landing great positions in my 20+ year career. I only ever got one job by applying online. It’s usually through recruiters, social circles, a company emailing me from my online career profile/website, or my last position at dentsu was through a friend/ former coworker from a past agency gig. Tap your network or try to expand it by meeting new people, virtually or in person.
I think HR is contracting as a whole, even worse than advertising. I would recommend you stay where you are for now, but periodically put out feelers for jobs that interest you.
I was worried about that with AI. It’s tough because I am unable to save much with my salary, so I just worry for the future. I’m worried my job is not advanced enough for bigger companies, so they won’t hire me even if I have more years here. Just thinking out loud here for anyone who may relate
