The pressure on billable hours is more than ever, and the IBM Consulting isn’t following the pay raises that people get everywhere else. Are IBM trying to make IBM consulting more valuable and carve it out? IBM

If you take a look at John Granger's September Road Ahead video, he mentions that, (not totally sure if I remember this right) about 10% of our global consulting workforce sits at 30% billable utilization, so this initiative is particularly directed at those people.

The exact percentage of people in that group I don't quite remember, but the 30% ute mark is definitely the cohort they're especially vigilant about.

There is also an associates bench problem, and to combat that, there is an initiative where you can get a new band 6 on your project for, like, 6 weeks for free with a minimum commitment of 10 weeks.

A lot of acronyms!!!

IBM Consulting is trying to fix a profit leakage problem - the consequences of which can be seen in our stock price this quarter. Q4 promotions are also on hold as a result.

If you are indeed seeking more money, the best way to do this at IBM has always been promotions. I'd recommend you start the conversation now, so you can be ready for q1 of next year.

Agree with IBM1 . Also - start interviewing elsewhere to find how much the market will pay you .

Seems like Deloitte is going through something similar on Ute . We are getting a lot of applications from D staff

Currently a first year staff in Risk Advisory in a Mid-Tier Firm hoping to move to Big 4 for either Risk or Cyber. When would be the most appropriate time to make the change? I heard that Senior Staff in mid-tier would most likely be hired as an “Experienced Hire” in Big 4. So would it be smarter to make the move now as a first year staff since I’ll be considered Experienced Hire anyway?

Received an offer from EY FSO.
Coming in as an SC2 with a comp of 115k with a 5k moving comp to move to NYC.

Tips for 6-month eval? Originally hired at 35K as assistant and was told if I performed well, I could expect to make 50K after a year. After one week, the operations manager resigned and I took over as a trial. Officially am operations manager, but no title (only verbal) and no raise. Owner likes benefits over big pay raises. Thinking about asking for 46K, new cellphone and official title change. I'm expecting some negotiating, which I've never done. 24F, AA Bus Admin, and overall good employee

Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. Starting in a junior BD Rep role to learn prospecting and earn quota history. Took a big paycut for the potential future earnings as an Account Exec. Did I dun goof? Probably. But I’ll regret it forever if I didn’t take my chance now when I’m still single and young-ish.

New in TCS but couldn't understand PF procedure and it's deduction from salary.
I am paying PF of amount 2040 getting deducted 2 times from my salary 1st according to CTC and after salary is getting credited then again same amount is deducted, so my question is this correct.
CTC is: PF+ 76185
Salary is: 76185-PF.
PF: 2040 so it's getting deducted 2 times same amount every month. Before salary is paid and after.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
