Yep. Was probably 20:100 before LASIK. Had the procedure and took a nap afterward, 4 hour later I could probably see 20:30. By the next day it was 20:20 and now it's around 20:15
Also did Kraff eye institute and had a great experience. You can definitely find less expensive places, but it wasn't something I was willing to cheap out on.
I used TLC Laser. I got mine done in Denver but I highly recommend them. I would suggest you go to a couple places to see which one you are most comfortable with. I ended up doing PRK vs LASIK and was appalled how one doctor described the procedure. I knew I'd never trust my eyes to him! Best thing I did, I just wish I did it 5 years earlier!! I was 20/300, now just about 20/15
Kraff. Full recovery - 6 months. Able to work easily at the computer 1-2 weeks.
Just do it before a weekend and you'll be fine. Most people can see great the next day.
Go to Lyons family eyecare in Lakeview. They were able to help me pick the right surgeon and lasik procedure for my needs. It's def not one size fits all. They're great!
I visited/interviewed 6 different doctors. Ultimately chose Kraff Eye Institute in the Loop. Absolutely phenomenal experience. Very patient answering my "dumb" questions. Always saw the namesake doc Colman Kraff (2nd gen LASIK surgeon) at pre-op and ALL followups. Super easy to schedule, pleasant/responsive office staff and nurses, state of the art setup. Really liked that all followers are in house.
Close second was Dr. Osvaldo Lopez at Chicago Eye Institute (Advocate). Guy legit pioneered LASIK. Not as many bells and whistles and not the same warm fuzzy bedside manner.
No way in hell I would go to any of the referral places. I'm sure the outcomes are fine, but they're so sales-y. Didn't feel like anyone gave a darn about me. They also farm out post-op to local ophthalmologists.
I Ubered home (with eyes closed), took some narcotics, and pasted the eff out after. Pretty easy. That nap had weird eye dreams and annoying itchiness that wore off later same day. Felt 100% by end of next day. Dry eyes for 6 months, but easily controlled with drops.
