There are so many ups and downs in the job hunt process between applications, callbacks, multiple interviews, etc. But I’m still proud of how far I’ve come since I was first laid off. What small wins have you celebrated recently?

Does your firm find out why you failed a clearance ? Asking bc I got fired from my first job out of college a couple years ago and didn’t report it on it company background check. I’m afraid if I fail my public trust, my current firm will find out and fire me for not reporting it on my prior employers.

Gay man who works in a large org that is big on diversity and inclusion efforts. I’d say about 50-60% of people (at all levels, across all age groups and races) list their gender pronouns in email signature. I list mine because I see it as a way to show support for colleagues who may not be cisgender. If anyone else works in the same type of environment, do you infer anything about colleagues who choose not to list their gender pronouns? (such as they are homo/trans phobic?)

Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. 6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞
