Yes to having the conversation, but far less so without escalating tensions. That last part is tricky and a difficult proposition. A well tailored approach helps. Some need their egos checked, while others don’t react well at all to that. Some need a business case presented to them (turnover equals cost and inefficiency equals less money in their pocket). And sometimes the conversations need to be with others about whether the behavior is toxic enough that separation needs to be considered.
