It’s formal, my RL is one and it’s been a position for over half a year now
Not really…it doesn’t even show on your profile. Click on a “Sr. directors” name it will just say Director.
It’s a made up title. They just open cohort grid for it but pay raises are not much. Further it’s another way to delays partnerships that will never be. How many mds can you make ? Every director wants to be partner or md but not every will be.
They announced it a few months ago, and the first senior directors were just made this promo cycle. Only P&T has this role, and it won't show up in Workday, so you can decide whether that's "formal" or not. They claim you don't first have to be a senior director before making MD / partner, but we all know that it will be like senior manager (they said it wouldn't lengthen time to director but it did), especially since we have such a long list of partner candidates and we never make any partners.
Ah, interesting. They said when they announced it that it wouldn't be in our backend systems and we were the only group that had it. Unfortunately, there is a trend for directors to label themselves as "senior directors" on LinkedIn/etc since it's not recognized firmwide, so most people still think it's a made-up title.
What’s the point of a promotion that does not show up!
It’s equivalent to the old 6E role. 5E is director and 6E is senior director. It doesnt show up anywhere though in a workday or anything like that but it is a promotion Vs moving forward on the cohort grid.
