Thinking about leaving consulting. If I’m a 2nd year Senior Consultant, with 10 YOE total what’s the likelihood of exiting to a Director level role? I have experience managing direct and indirect reports prior to consulting and an MBA. Trying to figure out next steps and feeling kind of behind in my career right now.

I’m in my 2nd year in audit. I want to pivot into management consulting within a big 4 or MBB. Has anyone seen someone make this lateral movement? I’m not sure how feasible that is and what steps to take. I’m also down to discuss further with whoever is comfortable in connecting.

I’m currently in the process of being converted from contractor to permanent. In my initial conversations I was under the impression that I was in a different pay grade and asked for a salary 25k higher than the max allotted for my position. My friend is working for a non-profit, has lots of transferable skills, and is willing to learn…but his job applications haven’t gained much traction. I think it’s because he’s looking to move towards a more corporate org and those recruiters don’t necessarily know what to make of his past experience.

I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I recently found out they’re shutting my team down. We’re not fired, but they’re transferring us to the core implementation team, which has a horrible reputation for malignancy, overworking, and isn’t at all what I was hired to do. How hard is it going to be to for me to find a new job? Should I just stay and try things out? What next?
