Not cringe, but definitely risky if your current management sees it and then wants to lay you off b/c of it.
AE1 is right in theory - the open to work banner *shouldn't* be visible to recruiters at your current company. How exactly that is determined I do not know.
I have only ever used it after telling my current company that I'm leaving.
One way to be a bit more stealth is, remove your current employer. Change the date on your former employer to make it look like you still work there and then turn on the Open to Work. However, make sure your profile changes are not sent to notify your network.
This way, it will just look like you never updated your LinkedIn profile
And only if it’s not on the internet. Oh wait, it is. Yeah terrible approach.
Yeah don’t do it. Someone will see it and it will become a problem for you in short order.
If you put the banner on, everyone will see it. It may expedite you leaving the job, so if you're ok with that, then do it. Otherwise just put Open to work for recruiters to see.
May as well, if you are looking to leave you have to get out there
Do it, you have the option of who can see it choose recruiters
