Why?
Yeah but by 2034 we will have WW3 vets.
There are no baddies, only people with big guns and those with bigger guns.
That is why we need to get them to tell their stories now so we can learn and honor them.
I'm gonna say bullshit to 1000 ww2 vets in 2034. Even the youngest ones will be 104ish
I’m a war history enthusiast (not an expert researcher but I’d read the history textbook when I got it from school and I cut school a lot when I was growing up) and man.. ww1 and ww2 were just on another level. Mainly ww1. The number of casualties in an hour of battle back then is hard to imagine today especially when the population was much smaller back then
If anyone is interested, look up the somme
The US (assume what you mean by “we”) has had so few casualties because the US has been involved in counterinsurgencies against non-state actors for the past two decades.
The Ukrainians and Russians would probably disagree with your thoughts on human survivability in a modern state on state combat environment. There’s also a big reason that western armories have been depleted to supply the Ukrainians (combat losses). For perspective, sources indicate that the combined casualties from the current war are approaching total US casualties from ww2 and have already eclipsed US ww1 casualties.
Ukraine war casualties indicate that if the big one kicks off with China and /or Russia, there is a high likelihood the US will once again incur world war level casualties.
I thought about, the last ones in the world will be German since they used so many HY At the end.
