I wouldn’t go to Wells Fargo if they paid me 30K more than what I make. They’ll have layoffs during the next crisis and the culture there probably isn’t the best right now.
I left this year to work in the accounting Dept. From office gossip of past layoffs, they generally happen more at the manager level than the consultant level
Unless you want to stay 3LoD go to compliance. Easier to transition to Risk and other areas of the business. Everybody is hating on WF but it would be good experience here and now, just make sure to have a good exit strategy and network with people from other banks. Should be easy in either CLT or NYC. I recently transitioned to a different bank and have been enjoying it immensely.
And I probably wouldn’t be there more than 2-3 years unless I settle in and really like the people I’m working with and job quality and would want to stay longer. So yea I agree that WF in the short term I believe is a good choice.
Wells is great. Hiring a ton of positions and paying top dollar. My concern with this role is longevity, what happens when our consent orders get dropped and you are in a new role that is no longer needed.
Compliance at well Fargo? That’s a no.
That being said, I personally think compliance is a better career path than IA.
I should add I was offered this after working 2 years in public accounting split doing both external and internal auditing. This would be a significant increase in my current comp and more than the market average for a senior IA in private, that’s why I was considering the compliance side (seems to pay more).
Echo what PwC1 said - you couldn’t get me to go to wells fargo for double the salary. Opening accounts in clients’ names without consent? Yeah no thanks
