Rising Star
The Triangle is generally solid: low to mid cost of living, highly educated population, solid culinary options, and a healthy amount of outdoor stuff to do. Transit’s not the best, but that’s true of most American cities that aren’t New York or Chicago.
That said, I wouldn’t live in a city in any southern state because state-level politics tend to stay red and impact education policy, reproductive rights, and several other things I don’t have to worry about where I am.

I’m from Raleigh, it’s a great place. Highly recommend!! Heads up - Raleigh-Durham is an airport; those are two different places and aren’t referred to like that outside of RDU. If people are talking about the region, they’ll say RTP or triangle.

I just moved to the area 1.5 years ago and like it so far! Much better cost of living - I was able to buy my first house. It still has nearly all the amenities of a larger city, too. Great concerts, parks / bike trails, and food scene.
Very walkable, especially in the downtown areas. However, some suburbia - like downtown Cary - is also built around walking
Went to school in Durham, The Triangle rocks. Great people, quality of life, solid food, convenient airport, beach and mountains within a half day’s drive.
Also, the trees are otherworldly come fall
