I am constantly in office or at client site - every woman on my team uses a backpack. I wouldn’t think twice about it, do what’s best for you!
Anyone who does not think backpacks are much better is probably a pretentious idiot. You will be fine

I commute on the train and switched to the backpack life years ago. Much healthier for your back.
I’ve seen very few women use totes/purses instead of backpacks at either B4 I’ve worked at. It’s also significantly healthier for your shoulders and back to use a backpack.
Carry a backpack. If you want a more stylish one, there are tons of options. Scope out Knomo, Bellroy, and, of course, Tumi. Plenty nice options at discount department stores like Nordstrom Rack too.
Backpack all day. Also, dress codes are a lot more casual post-COVID if you’re still worried about the optics, but there’s really no reason to be.
I use both, depending on how much I'm carrying with me. Don't think that's unprofessional at all.
100% backpack. I use an over the shoulder bag but my friend has this amazing leather backpack that I'm going to get. Can't wait for relief!
