Sorry to hear about this. Unfair things like that can happen in organizations. If you've got things to fall back on, that's good. It's better to get a paid position anyway. Putting in ten months with a charity will look just fine on a resume, don't worry about that.

You're volunteering?? That is crazy. How dare they try to dictate that. If you are volunteering your time to help the organization, they should plan around your schedule and the schedules of other volunteers, not the other way around. I would resign.
Honestly this is such a shame as I have enjoyed my time with this charity. I understand there are websites specifically for volunteers set on unfair schedules, would this be appropriate to mention on one? After all this is not the first time she has tried preventing me working a day. I have always done Wednesdays... Also is 10 months an appropriate amount of time to have on a CV. This is my first job. On a positive note, I do have options to fall back on .
I would just like to give an update..A few hours later I received a message from the church leader who previously agreed with me stating they changed their mind. I was then given a choice to either change my schedule or leave. I have now resigned from this charity.
They have refused to explain why they made this decision, Was slightly leaning towards family being brought in but the manager has hired her daughter as an employee.. I'm looking forward to collaborating with causes which appreciate their volunteers, going forward.
