When I started at a big advertising agency 12 years ago, every young single person was dating someone from the agency. Some of them grew into serious relationships and one of them got married. Today, people are scared to hold eye contact with someone of the opposite gender on the chance it makes uncomfortable. Agency hours and life are challenging to mental health as it is. I think it’s wrong to forbid romantic relationships at work. What does everybody else think?

Yes! The stretching of "diversity” seems to be such a widespread symptom of this industry’s fear of addressing the uncomfortable realities of race within it. A distraction? Very “All Lives Matter” ...

What are some racial/gender/age based micro aggressions you’ve experienced in the workplace?

Latinx - help! We used this term in our diversity spotlight discussing Hispanic Heritage Month. One individual said that in English a group of Latinos would just be Latins to be gender neutral. I understand the word is controversial but is “Latins” grammatically correct? I assume we should just say Latin Americans, but trying to understand if Latins is also accurate.

So I recently started a position with Fox. When it was presented to me in interview, I was told I would be working aligned with Fox Sports & Entertainment, not so much News. Now that I’m here, I’m seeing everything I’ll be doing is with the News team & makes me uncomfortable. No diversity, outdated software & process.
Financially, it’s the best position I been in. But mentally in this environment, it’s depressing & slow. Nothing innovative or engaging. What would you do?

How do you ask your clients to do any work? It’s supposed to be team of 3 but one is too lazy and the other one never knows what’s going on. I feel like I’m doing the work of at least 3 people. To make it worse my lead doesn’t consider it a problem after I brought it up from time to time. He’s extremely hardworking and made me peak at imposter syndrome. It’s also my new job so I try hard.
