Ask to look at your supervising attorneys’ bills, I’m guessing that’ll be the hardest transition. Good luck!

I’m considering doing the reverse. Why the switch if you don’t mind me asking?

Nice! Sounds like you made a good choice. Im about to do the literal opposite but the firm seems okay with nice partners, so I hope it works out. As for advice, since you’re at a bigger firm, everything probably has been done before and you should be able to get templates from your colleagues for everything from client reports (much longer/detailed on this side) to motions and memos. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

It’s Friday night at midnight and I just got out of work. I am new to FPP defense. So far it’s soul crushing. I feel like a robot just doing the same pattern pleadings and discovery over and over. If I try to be creative or ask questions I get the response that I should not recreate the wheel… basically just cut and paste. My brain feels like it’s going to rot doing this work. Does it get better or do I need to plan my exit to a different field ASAP?

I worked FT as a paralegal and went to law school in the evening. I recently interviewed at a small ID firm in employment law with about 9 attorneys. They asked for a writing sample. I dont have anything recent but provided what I had from last yr in a legal writing class, it was not enough for them. I became licensed this May so I dont have an array of motions to pick from. Then they asked for my undergrad transcript, at this point, I am now annoyed They are not Biglaw. Are they going overboard
