They won’t budge too much unless it’s from Lighthouse. You’re best off going to FAANG for engineering roles

How much does the lighthouse bands differ from non lighthouse? People say 130 for SA is the high end of the band.

Came in as an associate and negotiated from $70-75k a few years ago. As D1 stated though, industry is probably your best bet to maximize salary in an engineering role.

Ah thanks for that. My offer is at 135k and I’m trying to go up. It’s in a tech group so budgets are higher it seems

smart

I came in as a tech arch/senior engineer and was able to bump them up about 20% iirc. For an SA 130 is top of band(would break most) as far as I know. It’s already in M territory though on the low end.

I can say it’s HCOL

Very insightful answer. Based on that it seems like the potential pay cut you may have to take might be worth it in the long run. As someone who also came from industry I can attest to both the ability to work with a range of different clients and being exposed to new technologies as well as office flexibility as someone who moved cities during my time here.

For those who interview what do y’all look for in your interviewees? I feel like when I ever interview for a technical role they’re looking for skills and experience first. Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?

Screen sharing with an ultrawide / 4K monitor - what’s everyone’s experience like? In the past I tried to screen share with a 1440p monitor and people would complain my screen was too small so I have a secondary 1080p monitor that use exclusively for screen sharing. I’d love to move to either an ultrawide or just upgrade the 1080p monitor to a 4K one but am worried I’ll have the same issues it appearing small on the other persons end. Anyone have any suggestions?
