Trying to decide between two job offers, which would you choose?
Job A)
Senior designer at ad agency doing beautiful work for meaningful causes. Hybrid environment. Nice office, lots of perks, but the pay is about 30-40K lower than:

Job B) Creative/marketing manager remote role at small insurance company. The work seems like it could be pretty boring, and more digital marketing-focused (SEO, google ads, etc). But pay range is much higher and there is a pension that vests after 5 years.

Job B and it's not close for me. More money, fully remote, and a pension?!? Do you realize how difficult/impossible it is to find a company that offers a pension these days? I would take that without a second thought!

like

Have to agree. I also prefer work that means something but a pension?? I’d happily wipe someone’s ass the whole time for a pension.

like

Job B. More money in today's market goes a long way, and you dont have to stop looking either. You may find a job like Job A that pays like Job B down the road.

like

@Hager Sharp, ad agencies will accept anyone with a pulse. They’d salivate about hiring in someone who was a manager somewhere into a senior designer role. They’ll think they’re getting a deal.

like

A! Too few people actually find work that’s meaningful and that they enjoy. Fulfillment is worth more than money can buy.

like

A if you're single and B if you have dependants…

Choose job A and give me the name of the employer for job B... hahaha.

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.

However, I am worried if I accept the tech role and I do not become permanent I will be looking again for a job in 12-24 months and my CV won't be showing a managerial position. Won't be showing any progress.

Interviewing soon with EY for a senior role (TD FSO). I originally applied for their core practice but the recruiter convinced me that since I’m coming from a financial services audit background, I’d be better suited for their FSO practice. Assuming I get the job, would exit opportunities be worse if I am in FSO instead of the core group? Thanks!

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?
