If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

OP - you don’t have to take it if it is an issue. Does the firm “need” you to transfer or is it more of a personal choice?
You should realize the cost of living adjustments will bring you inline with the salary range for those in the new city. It will not adjust your salary to afford you the same life style of the high cost market as the low cost market. This is common sense and how it works. I don’t know your particular details but they are likely adjusting your Salary to those of comparable peers in terms of tenure and performance in your new market
Story time?
COLAs in my experience are lower when transferring than the actual difference in living costs. This from someone who was asked to relocate rather than someone who asked to relocate.
You don’t have to take the transfer if you don’t want it
Lol sure, easy to say.
Also, year 2 is going to have less negotiating power than more advanced years.
Of course it’s lower, 20% is offered when the actual difference is at least 35-50%. I relocated because I am the only service line person in current office. You can say whatever you want but that shouldn’t be the reason that a 4 rated senior(or exceed expectation, whatever you call it) to be paid 7-10% less than average of the band in new location.
There’s 3 other firms in SF that are just as good if you’re worth so much more just give them a call
Ok here’s details - I am roughly 10% lower than all other new seniors who worked on my engagements. I dont expect to receive anything more than average senior band in the new group because of moving but the fact is my new salary is like 4 or5 % higher than staff2. I am not pissed because I didn’t get a 200% boost or big city koolaid. I am frustrated because the firm is investing that much on the programs and raises for senior retention and screw me like this. Thanks for the advice and there are way more than 3 other open options for me in tech side.
