Came from a developer background. What are some business books that can help me get better on the functional consulting side? Have nearly zero formal business education.
Can anyone recommend me insightful books which can help consulting/career but not with titles like “how to be a successful manager” etc.
Question from a newbie consultant - What are some good online courses/ books to improve consulting skills?
What are your favorite books for consulting?
Hiya! I was wondering if anyone here has any good recommendations in terms of books or learning material that I can pick up to learn about sales and marketing relevant to the consulting industry?
Friendly late 20s woman fish here who hasn’t been feeling good enough to be in consulting or run a business. I don’t know what’s going on but even with all of my accomplishments I feel worthless. I’m in therapy so I’m sure there’s a rainbow somewhere but I’m wondering if anyone else has felt like this and what you’ve done to get past it? I’ve thought of reading more books on my craft and doing affirmations but I’m like internally smh at everything.
Hey all - early 30’s and feeling really lost in terms of trying to figure out what I want to do in life. I’ve been in consulting for 5 years and just hate it. I’m torn between doing something for the greater good and making good money. Is there any way to do both? Also if anyone has recs for helpful books or podcasts on figuring out life, I would appreciate any and all suggestions!
Hi, would anyone be available to critique my resume? Also, I want to get out of consulting, but an absolutely horrible at selling myself because I don’t think I’ve done anything in my 3 years here. Does anyone have any good books that may help me with this?
Suggested books or resources to learn more about strategy consulting? Different analysis, acronyms, etc.

I was asked by a friend for a few management consultant books (similar to liar's poker in the finance industry) to check out. The only one I can think of is Peter Drucker's Adventures of a Bystander (good but not too much consulting)... any suggestions! 😁
Looking for some material for a crash course in IT strategy consulting - books article etc. any recommendations would be appreciated
I’m a recent grad and am starting my first job as a federal consultant in a couple months. Can anybody recommend some good books to read that relate to federal consulting? Or consulting in general?
Does anyone know where to get some of top consulting books used or low cost (physical copies)? Stuff like the 4S method, pyramid principle and McKinsey way comes to mind, but would like to get copies at a lower cost if possible.
Can anyone explain how EY Parthenon undergraduate recruiting works? Like do Growth Strategy and M&A Strategy (TSE) run separate recruiting processes, or is it all under "Summer Associate" and the recruiting team decides which intern is in which group? Thanks!
Great I had a panic attack during an interview. At least it was over the phone and I could fake a cough to give me time to recover. Wtf universe.
Best benefits of Deloitte ? Thinking about switching from EY for a more interesting group
Friday motivation: just booked three summer trips on points and miles for me and my hubby, including business class flight to London. Bright side of waking up at 4:30am on Mondays 😊
Why am I concerned about negotiating the salary of a job offer? Any chances of loosing the job I really want before I even get started? Pls share you negotiation experience and outcome.
Any tips for someone who discounts good feedback but heavily focuses on the opportunities to improve? So much that I have a fear of getting fired despite receiving overall good feedback. I started a new job earlier this year. The function of the role and industry is new to me. My manager told me he generally has higher expectations than the rest of the organization. Originally, I viewed this as a great learning opportunity but can't help to think I'm not cut out for this and fear the worst.
How much total comp raise would you need to go to another big 4, equally reputable in the space. They claim that they will reduce your travel from 80% to 25%, which is a big plus for me.
Does anyone else feel like their burn-out cycle is shorter? It used to take me about 2 years of grind before I hit a burn-out phase where I needed to do some serious recuperating. It feels like I'm at 3 months now, or even less. I've already spoken to my wife about building quarterly mini-vacations into my schedule just to keep my energy up. And by burn-out, I mean you're at the point that every single ball you are juggling can drop and you get fired and almost see that as a blessing.
Remind me what it’s like working for a firm where people know how to use technology? Nobody at my firm knows how to use zoom. They don’t know how to share a screen. So they use their phone camera and it’s lopsided and shaky.
Hello Fishes, I have two job offers in hand. Need for suggestion on which one is better to join considering work culture and other benefits. Offers are from SAP SDC and EY GDS with same salary benefits. Skillset- SAP EWM YOE- 12 Years
What’s the weirdest (SFW) thing huge done while on a WFH conference call so far? I just cut my toenails while listening to a client talk for 30 minutes.
I’m changing jobs and near my 401k limit in my current plan. How do I limit contributions with my new employer while still maximizing the match?
Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. I made a few other mistakes and was rolled off by my manager (SM) b/c I sucked and it was a higher burn engagement he needed a stronger BA. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.
Are any Apple agency vendors worried about potential layoffs due to Apple’s stock price and slump in sales?
Have an interview with Accenture strategy as manager. Just wondering what typical base salary and bonus is for second year manager.
A lot of companies put out ads or talked about policy or internal changes in response to the BLM movement. I’m wondering if, beyond the immediate ads and statements that were released this actually continued. What are some things your agency has done… or could do to make a real impact in the realm of Diversity, equity and inclusions (DEI).
Has anyone ever taken a short term leave of absence to deal with mental health issues relating to being overloaded and overwhelmed with work? I’m at my breaking point with no end in sight of things slowing down. If I tell the COO, will this affect my career at the firm by doing this? Is there another option?
