1. How long is the one client under contract for? If they go out for bid in 2 years ouch.
2. If client is not signed up for 5 years, let’s say 1 or 2, can you negotiate protection if that client leaves - if client leaves within 2 years and firm terminated you, you get $$$.
3. Is KPMG actively working on AI that will replace your function in near term. Same for offshoring your role.
4. You need as much info as you can get on your main client contact. Is he or she the decision maker with regard to the relationship. If this person is a jerk or has gone through 4 KPMG people in the last year walk away.
5. Why did your predecessor leave? Did client force the change?
I enjoy Kpmg but the 2 things I would keep in mind is I’ve never heard of anyone at Kpmg or any other PA firm being hired and guaranteed to work on one client. Currently the open need may be allocated to a single client but if the firm wins new work there is nothing stopping leadership from moving you around so I wouldn’t do it for that sole reason.
The other thing that would worry me is the remote part. Over the past 1-2 years the firm has put alot of effort to bring most practices back into the office at least some. Not sure about AM but I’d worry about either being brought back or being isolated being 100% remote where it will impact career growth.
Not a guarantee but they certainly do hire people for specific engagements including fully remote. Those people generally would not be successful if pulled and assigned to a number of smaller projects, as they wouldn't have the relevant experience and training, so there is little incentive for the firm to do so.
I'd be more worried about being let go if you are not a good fit for the team or the client terminates the relationship. I do see the appeal of it though as I'm juggling my numerous clients. Also, 100% remote absolutely inhibits career progression at higher levels.
