I used to be a happy guy, then over the past 5 years of being in public accounting I’ve gradually turned super cynical and hopeless. WFH has definitely added fuel to the fire because I’m super outgoing and vibe off of others. I’ve been actively looking for a new role but nothing good has come up for 6ish months. I returned back from Germany this year and now my current fixed CTC in India is 25 LPA and my in hand salary after deduction was 1.4 LPM, I was not sure what to opt in the Tax regime and selected new tax regime. Can someone please for the love of god help me figure out how I can pay less income taxes? I only make 88k and I put the 12k standard deduction but I’m still getting taxed 27% of my paychecks! My sign on bonus (20 even) a few months ago was taxed nearly 45%! Excuse my ignorance, but am I doing something wrong? Will increasing deductions help or should I increase the withholdings?
