Watching friends in public grind through busy season while I’m in industry has me second guessing if I left too early for the experience. My workload is steady but nowhere near the intensity they’re getting. Did anyone regret leaving public before making it further?

You’re building actual industry experience. Just because you aren’t destroying yourself for 60 hours a week doesn’t mean you’re not still progressing. If you’re really motivated to keep learning outside of work maybe do more CPE.

It depends on your goals. If you shifted what you were doing I wouldn’t stress too much about it. If you are staying in the type of work it just less work and less stressful, I wouldn’t be concerned either.

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

So I worked from home yesterday and my husband had a sneak peak on my meetings with clients (which I’m very new to being a senior). He mention that I should read some sales pitch books of some sorts so I can get a process down and not be drain from having genuine conversations with every client. I think it’s a great idea. Anyone have thoughts or recommendation?

Still a blank slate in terms of tax experience, but I honestly do have a slight interest in international tax. Brought it up and I was given some names to find some work opportunities in that area. Besides SALT, any other specialized areas I should try to get some experience in? Also open to any tips and tricks to help tailor my workflow and experiences for the months to come.
