I would say definitely have one, but only put small items on there! The thing is - people WILL buy you stuff and if you don’t have a registry, they’ll actually be wasting their money by buying stuff you don’t want. Maybe only put things under $50 or something like that? And you don’t have to advertise it too, it can just sit on your website in case anyone goes looking for it!
My MIL just hosted a party and wrote “no presents please, your presence is present enough!” Or something cute like that - people still brought gifts but there should be a bunch of lines like this online if you wanted to put it somewhere online or on your invitation! That’s super selfless and considerate of you guys though

people are still going to give you gifts even if they travel. there’s nothing wrong with having a registry, you’re not forcing anyone to buy from it. also many decide not to attend designation wedding, so they’re typically happy to have a registry to send in lieu of their attendance

If people are asking to give you gifts, send them the registry. I wouldn’t make the registry public to all because it may rub some the wrong way if they’re traveling too. My plan for my destination wedding is to just write no gifts on the invite and say their presence is the gift
