I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

At this point I am starting to think burnout is another one of their strategies to reduce our workforce without having to do another round of layoffs. We went through two rounds of layoffs last year. They threw us a couple of AI tools and acted like that could replace half our team, when all they do is increase our workload because we have to fix mistakes that the software makes. All of us are doing the workload of at least two people at this point and we are all very, very tired.
The workload definitely increased at first for those of us who stayed, though over time it eventually leveled out as priorities were reassessed and processes adjusted. This is a side of RIFs that doesn’t get discussed enough. Anytime a layoff happens, it impacts both those leaving and those remaining. Did anyone else experience this, and if so, did your company actually reduce the scope of work, or were you expected to take on multiple roles long term? I hear it’s the latter more often than not.

We are currently in a recruitment freeze so whenever someone leaves we just end up continuing with the same amount of work and no new person. Just means other work gets dropped as we can't do it all.
