I'm working in Tata Consultancy for last 9months. I got allocated to Deployment team in Kolkata. I'm a quick learner and it was my mistake to learn everything so quickly. I've been forced to work for 12hrs at least regularly. Also, I've been providing night support daily for production (yes!! Production is happening daily) but I'm not getting any overtime pay. My manager is not responding to my mails regarding my dues. What shall I do?? Will HR help me? I'm demotivated and I want to resign. 😞

Of course we agree. These are facts.
I'll never forget a when an ECD at an agency mentioned how she was fortunate that our agency allowed her to take an extended maternity leave (6 months) when she had her child. At the time that seemed like a nice perk for being at the agency, but years later I've learned that's a perk enjoyed by women like her and not inclusive to others especially women of color.
Hell yes this article is relevant to our industry. And I applaud the writer for pointing out that the current work life balance wave was made possible on the backs of women of color! I see no lies in the fact that women of color do face stigmas when we prioritize family over work, a decision that is not without repercussion to our overall career trajectories by the way. So it's no surprise that we don't experience the same benefits of the work life balance movement as our white counterparts, which echoes the same sentiment of the overall diversity and inclusion debate...
I’m always so sad for parents in the US. A year is standard in Canada. It’s not a well-paid year, but it IS paid time off.
I agree, but I think us mothers need to massively, strongly and fiercely band together to lift all of us up. I’m trying so hard to change the policies at my agency for the benefit of all, and it is so. damn. hard. I’m fighting every day to make things better for the next generation, black, white and brown. So in that context, I don’t know if it’s helpful to further divide us or to paint white women’s strides at securing equality as suspect. Our rights as mothers are today, in 2019, inadequate and inhumane by the standards of the developed world. And black women and white women need to keep our eyes on the prize 🤜🏽 Motherhood is a great source of common ground.
Do we agree, disagree? Does this apply to our industry? As someone who's had part-time help, I don't think I ever considered how my demands on them may impact the work life balance they have!
