Went through a final round interview to not get an offer. Asked recruiter for feedback and he said there was no feedback to give as I interviewed really well, and it ultimately came down to a “tough decision” and the other candidate working slightly better. Not sure how to take this?

Honestly don’t take it personally. You did great you just weren’t the person selected. I went through 10 rounds of interviews for a job and team I would have loved to work for. It came down to the final round between me and one other person. At the end of the day they just preferred the other person to me. It doesn’t mean I did poorly I made it to the very end of an extremely competitive process and they also told me it was an extremely tough decision. It hurt but you have to pick yourself up and move on. I honestly don’t like asking for feedback because it is subjective. I feel like something they say could change the way I respond or react in the future and that could be the thing or idea someone else loves so I prefer to stay true to myself. Good luck on your search!

100% this! Great reply.

Take it as may be the job was not meant to be and move on . I went through 3 interviews for same position at different sites in my company and the 4th one I aced . Guess what is the best site ever coz of how they develop their team . I feel valued unlike where I worked before my former colleagues envy me . No can be a blessing in disguise.

Nothing to take personally imo. You did great just someone else was a slightly better fit. Dont stress about how to be 1% better

Friends, need some feedback on an idea:

I’m thinking of starting a podcast interviewing leaders at startups about their experience with specific challenges - I know, cliche, get a more original hobby, etc.

Not looking for the narrative arc of How I Built This or Masters of Scale. Instead, looking to uncover specific problems faced by companies that tried something new for the first time. What did they not see coming, how did they adapt and measure, etc.

What are your thoughts on this format?

I’ve been interviewing with Google since July. Passed the first interview but the team I was matched with ended up hiring someone else. Recruiter told me that she will let me know if any other opportunities arise as I’m still in the running and haven’t been rejected. I know that interviewing with google is a long process but I’m worried the longer I wait the more likely I will be rejected or just never hear back. Anyone else in this situation? So is this a right decision to move from application dev role to Data Science/analyst field? Does software engineer gets paid more?

Hi everyone!

This isn’t really an interview question but more of an on-boarding question.
Bit of background- I left my job of 3 years in Dec 2021 for a new company. Initially, I thought the company was great but my mind quickly changed. The on-boarding process was horrible, minimal training, thrown onto enterprise project 2 weeks in, over time, and there is no process for anything. I ended up hating my job.

Fast forward to Mid March, I started applying for jobs again but I omitted this role.
