Absolutely nothing, except for more work because they want more frequent/detailed reporting due to market conditions (industry)
Update: now we have mandatory mental health training sessions. This actually hurts my mental health as more unpaid OT will be worked to make up for the hours lost to the training.
I'm just asking people to meet deadlines and be communicative. As long as the team knows what's being worked on and what the ETA is, I don't care when folks work or how much they do at once. This is the kind of situation where I can't take someone for coffee and ask what's wrong, so I'm giving everyone the ability to do things their way. Is it slower? Yeah, def. But no one is complaining about projects spinning out of control while being expected in a video conference while also being expected to homeschool while also having to cook for their whole family. Mostly the complaints I get are, "Is this over yet?"
Regretfully, I can't tell anyone it's over nor when it will stop being a crappy situation. I'm looking forward to the day I can.
I have to admit while UA has stumbled, stocks went down, etc., the company is doing a lot for us. Work when you can (which is great when you have kids) and get your shit done but virtual hh, workouts with their list of personal trainers, counseling on call, town halls with very honest answers, even ones that suck. I just appreciate that they are being reasonable and understanding.
It’s a hard time so I appreciate the little things that I can see others aren’t getting. Like relaxed deadlines.
Virtual lunches, coffee breaks, happy hours, and workouts.
We have a slack page dedicated to pet photos.
In communications they are acknowledging that reduced productivity is a thing, and that it’s okay, providing information on employee mental health resources. Very employee-focused and clean open communications about challenges.
