UK: Up to 52 weeks formal maternity leave total
29 weeks full pay + 50% of "standard performance" bonus
10 weeks of government pay (equivalent of about $1k USD pm)
13 weeks unpaid, however, you can choose to take up to 10 "Keeping in Touch" days where you go in to the office, even if just for a 1-2h training or a catch-up meeting, and get paid for a full day - which actually works out to MORE than the government pay at my salary, averaged out over the 3 months
You accrue vacation + public holidays during the leave and can use vacation days to extend (25 vacation + 8 holidays, if you took a year).
Nothing special for pre-delivery. You just start the 52-week clock earlier.
Pat leave is the same. A lot of women take the full year but anecdotally most fathers I know take a bit at the start and a bit at the end, all within the 6mo paid total.
This sounds so supportive! 29 weeks itself is relatively great but love that there’s incremental benefits offering flexibility and some comp benefits.
US; 6 weeks STD (you can start before delivery if you'd like), 6 weeks for vaginal birth 8 for C-section. I was able to take 3 weeks of vacation (unlimited PTO) to extend my leave.
So just the govt mandated STD and no additional paid time off? That’s rough!
M2, unfortunately yes. They describe what constitutes a complex birth so there’s no ambiguity.
