Maybe a dumb question, but if you accept a lateral offer and the firm is offering you a bonus, does your recruiter get paid from out of your bonus or does the firm pay them separately? I.e., if I negotiate a 50k bonus, do I get to keep all 50k or does the recruiter get a cut of that? I figured the former but wanted to make sure.

I accepted a role in New York City but my direct manager said I can work from home in Boston instead. My understanding is that I would be paying NY taxes, but not MA taxes. Can anyone here confirm? Hi! I've been trying to reach the IRS about correcting a name on a return, they won't process my tax return bc of this error. I call the number they provide 800-829-0582 ex. 372 or 772 and when I call i get a message that I need to call the number above. So it's driving me nuts bc it's a literal circle. I've tried calling the number listed on the IRS website and it's only prerecord info. I don't know what to do, any suggestions?

Maxed out Roth IRA contributions when I wasn't eligible for 2021 (got a salary bump mid year). Do I need to recharacterize? It's a very small account that's been open for only two years. That's the only IRA account I own. Do I need to open a traditional IRA and roll over 6k + realized gains into that account and keep the Roth IRA. So confused how this works and got conflicting information from Merrill.
