Employers would rather cheap out on parties, so they just trick you into feeding yourselves and take the credit. Then if you don't participate you aren't being a team player. Frankly, I don't like potlucks in general, not many people cook as well as I do and there isnt much food I like that travels well. This goes for family reunions too.
I absolutely hate potlucks! And you are right companies try to make it seem like the companies is acknowledging their appreciation but we feeding ourselves
I agree about feeding ourselves is not showing appreciation. But I like potlucks. I love trying other people's food, especially those who brag about their cooking. When you have to go to one, what do you bring?
I hate potlucks too. Half the time, people bring food in and it just sits there for hours until the party. I'm not a big fan of eating other's foods as I am pretty picky about preparation. I usually bring the cups, plates and sodas because the thought of cooking a big meal for a crowd is not my idea of fun. I know I sound like a party pooper but I would just rather have the boss order a bunch of pizzas and call it a day.
