Believing that because you are a police officer you will have more influence in legal matters and that you and your family will have preferences.
A common misconception is to think you are more important than civilians, cops have something that is like a family and we take care of each other, but that same family allows cops to commit crimes and get away unscathed.
A misconception is to believe that every person of color is a criminal and it is almost cultural in some police departments.
To me a misconception within the force is that homophobia is frowned upon, that is terrible.
The police force is like a small society where a lot of bad things happen and everyone accepts it because it's part of everyday life. A misconception is the acceptance and understanding of corrupt cops within the force.
One common misconception about working in law enforcement is that it is a glamorous and exciting job. The reality is that it can be dangerous, challenging, and often thankless work. Officers frequently face difficult and dangerous situations, and they often put their lives on the line to protect the public. They also deal with a lot of stress, and they often don't get the recognition they deserve.
Some think that it is only a career for men. This could not be further from the truth as women are making great strides in the field and are just as capable of performing the duties required.
I don't think there is a misconception about working in law enforcement, but rather a respect for the profession. It can be a very rewarding and fulfilling career, and I think most people understand that.

These men and women are some of the MOST compassionate, empathetic, non racist, non homophobic, etc. Humans I've ever had the pleasure to support and work with.
