Not having to sit in front of brain dead clients to go through 100slides of deck that they will never remember seems to do wonder for my time management skill.

Introvert person. Scared of going back to work. I like working from home. I don’t have to shower and on my pajama.

I drive 15 minutes to the office, so the commute is not a problem. The office makes the firm and the work a tangible thing. Sometimes I feel like I’m just typing away while wearing shorts I bought in 2002. Also I miss being out and about

Not a thing.

I miss the buzz of the city mostly, and having that outside the door. not anything specific to the office really

Nothing.

Nothing really except for the coffee shops around it

Nothing. I hate my office space and found it nearly impossible to work due to noise, distractions.

I miss the city and walking the busy streets though.

If you need a hug, SP1, I’m here for you (herd immunity notwithstanding).
I know we have professional relationships but all my co-workers are going to get a long hard hug from me whether they want it or not. Miss you all! 💚💚

Being somewhat forced to get out of bed at 7am. I have no clue what it’s like to shower before noon anymore

Stopping by people’s desk and pop ins at offices. But I can live without it. This wfh is amazing.

What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.

Resume question I've had three positions over my career one of which lasted 3 months and that I got fired from, the job search took an additional 2 months. Is it worth it to leave the 3 month stint off my resume? It might be easier to explain getting fired then a 5-month gap I was thinking

I'm accepting an offer with a new company... Start in early Aug. Senior Manager role, though in this company that equates to Manager at most consulting farms. They did not had hunt me. I came to them for the job.

I have COVID delayed vacations planned for the last week in August and the first week in October.

Should I just cancel one of them? Or should I at least put both on the table and see what they say? They're going to hire me either way, but I wonder if it's a bad start to ask for both.

I don’t want things to go “back to normal,” and lately I’ve been reading what feels like a lot of disingenuous arguments for reopening “for people’s mental health.” As someone who was suffering from the way things were before and is now thriving from the slowdown (both in work and personal life), I wish we could all stop pretending like we were living in some mental health utopia before the shut down.

I am not sure who needs to hear this but exactly one year ago, I was at my lowest point in life. Today, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Life has truly been a rollercoaster these past few years for me.

I am sharing this to tell you that no matter what you’re feeling right now, it won’t last. Even the happiness I feel right now, I’ve had that stripped from me multiple times. That is LIFE. We have the good and the bad.

Hang in there if times are bad. If things are good, prepare to lose it too.

Can someone discuss the pros and cons of having a gym close to work vs having a gym near home but still would have to commute there, go back home then go to work. To me it seems more convenient to just on the way to work go to the gym, shower, then go into the office.

How do people deal with manipulative/controlling in laws? I truly love my wife and we always thought our relationship with her parents would change after marriage and now 4 years later with a kid on the way, it hasn’t. They feel the need to make passive/aggressive comments that they basically think I’m a slave driver for insisting that she has her own career and keep working. They legitimately cannot believe she wants to be more than a stay at home mom. Frustrated to the point of depression.

I think we get so caught up in always needing to date to fill our short term loneliness that we stop thinking long term goals and needs
