What is a good ratio of billable hours to total hours?

Obviously the "ideal" is 100%, but as the junior attorney at a small firm, I'm do the guy taking all the prospective client cold calls, and it can seriously cut into my day.

My goal has been to spend at least 75% of my time on billable work. Reasonable?

Is it reasonable to be expected to spend 20-30 non-billable hours a month checking your paralegal’s work? (i.e. summarizing hundreds of records and bills). The partner said he “didn’t use paralegals” at his previous firm and eating the time is an “investment in yourself.” Is this common?

Collecting data on a potential entrepreneurship idea for a marketing CRM of sorts. What I have found is that most ppl in marketing do not have a specific tool that they use in order to coordinate and connect with marketing agencies. For ex. I was working on a webinar and needed to work with a few diff agencies to draft up creative and copy assets. Everything was done via email/docs. Would have been nice to have a CRM to organize and bring transparency to coordinate the project. How about you?

I have 15 YOE all in health IT consulting in T2, mostly running large technology implementations for providers. I’m tired of the consulting grind and am contemplating going to industry. The easy path of an IT exec position with a typical client of mine (large health systems) does not appeal to me. I find the idea of going to more innovative companies (big tech, health tech startups, provider or payer disrupters) more appealing.

Any data points, thoughts, advice on how to exit?

AITA. I was hired in 2019 by an individual to handle her wrongful termination case on an hourly fee basis. I usually work on contingency but this client made about 35k/yr and found a new job for less money right after she was fired. After paying around 17k in attorney’s fees she runs out of money and pays me 500 every few months but even that eventually stops. We end up winning a jury trial and appeal. My fees are more than the judgement. AITA for taking the full judgement to cover my fees?

I work at a small agency and spend my day regularly working on 3 accounts at once. Is this normal? I find it so hard to change gears creatively when going back and fourth between clients.

My CDs, while brilliant, suck at organization (i.e. rarely respond to emails and if they do, only half-answer, don’t care about proofing, lose files). I’m sick of defending them to account. Tips?

Stay at a firm where you don’t really enjoy the type of work, no wfh flexibility, but work flow isn’t completely overwhelming (never hit 2,000 and it’s never been a problem) or accept offer at a new firm in the practice group I want to be in, complete wfh flexibility (team sits all over the country and not in my location) but one where they told me they are *overwhelmed* with work. 4th yr for reference.
