McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Hmm, the rep FTI has in my circle at least is that it primarily used to be a restructuring advisory firm, also decent FDD practice. It grows aggressively through acquiring many smaller firms, fragmented culture. Some teams are great, some aren't, people look out for themselves mostly.
Not many homegrown people at FTI.
Second that. All true
Does Capco have a bad rep?
It’s mostly staff aug. high rate of attrition, low level of brain power used.
Our FDD/TAS practice is booming right now. Like crazy busy with work. I would personally recommend trying to come into the restructuring or OCFO practice though. I’ve come to realize that if you are in those practices, they are more prestigious in a sense and you can always do projects outside of those groups. For example, I’m in restructuring and if I want to do an Interim FP&A role or a TAS project, I’m pretty free to do it as long as I don’t have a project already lined up. I’ve not seen it work the other way though. If you do TAS/FDD, that’s what you will solely do
