Never left my first company for “greener pastures.”

That I should have stayed a bit longer and faced the challenges. I focused too much on finding the "perfect" workplace. But I realized later on that it didn't exist in the first place.

I wish I would have focused on finding a good work life balance not just chasing the money. Not too happy at my current job and it's because I was just chasing a paychek

About me: Water engineering/treatment and power plant performance experience for nearly 10 years. Just about finished completing my sustainability science masters (physics undergrad) and have my PMP cert. I’m trying to pívot to a tech or consulting sus. position and trying to find how to properly brand myself to show the value I can bring. Can use advice!

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

I am a 2nd year associate at a plaintiff’s firm specializing in toxic tort cases (individual). I’ve had the opportunity to be third chair on a trial, and will likely be second chair in an upcoming trial. However, given the track record of the firm and the amount of money at stake in each case, I am afraid I won’t get any first chair experience, if any, for at least another 5-7 years. I am considering staying at the firm but trying to get trial experience through side Pro Bono work. Thoughts?

Community, I’ve been meeting with a lot of people regarding next steps in my career. One of the best pieces of advice I received is to avoid micro-managing executive staff (agency leadership), as it puts downward and unwelcome pressure on people’s managers and ultimately oneself. Based on your experience in the last 2 years are there:
- Agencies you would steer clear from because their leadership micromanages
- Agencies you would recommend because their leadership gives you room to grow

Thx 🙏🏼
