If you have the time, document the process as you understand it and then bring that to your meetings to confirm your understanding and show what/how you're learning. You'll also likely be adding value to your team by starting to document processes and make apparent any conflicts or areas where the processes aren't clear
I work in standardizing process documents and this is a common issue we see when we first find an area that needs to be standardized. A good tip is to take detailed notes on the process you were first given. If some steps in that process are unclear, follow up with the same individual and ask those questions, that way you have a end-to-end flow of what you are expected to do. I would always send a followup email with that individual and confirm if the captured notes and steps are accurate. That way in the future when you are told another process, you can always pull out the old process for reference. What you may be surprised to find is that the process may not be too different and may just have to modified.
If you can, document the process and this can lead to you creating an SOP for your company…
Make them document. Create a matrix or RACI, have team leads build workflow maps. They need documentation and clarity. Process cannnot live alone in someone’s inaccessible brain. You’ll need this to iterate build scale and succeed. Good luck and god speed.
