Open demat account and use money to apply for good IPO, good in sense based on GMP(look it up). On listing day book your profits. With that much money you can easily apply in HNI (>2 lakh) category. Getting allotment is luck based. So in a year, if you can get even 1 IPO with >30% listing returns are more than 1 year fd. And warn you not to go greedy and hold those IPO shares even after listing date. Just keep it simple, apply for IPO only for listing day gains. If above sounds risky buy India govts T-Bills (1 year - 7%)

If its about 3 years go for balanced funds. Less than 3 years you can go for conservative hybrid funds or fixed deposit with 1 year maturity. If more 3 years go for equity or aggressive equity funds.

He is a male! (Btw)
My parents had invested some money for my wedding which has matured but we won't be needing that for a few years.
Debt funds less risk and interest also minimal to avg

You can diversify it like in Gold, MF, FD.
If you want to take some risk you can buy some stocks.
It depends on your risk taking ability and your goal .. if you are moderate to high risk taker and ready to invest minimum 8 years means go for stocks or equity mf
If your investment is short term or less than 8 years means consider debt mf… there is some mid term debt mutual funds where you can expect 8-10 percent returns.

Guess, the best would be listen to mom and ask her to invest ! She would be adding another 5 l for your marriage 😂
Simply put in FD, now a days bank gives good interest 6-6.5% that will be perfect
You can buy some good bonds from govt/third party which is kind of fd with interest around 8+
I don't think it is a good time to invest in the stock market or mutual fund, if you would be needing the money within 1-1.5 years. There is a lot of market risk with the recession fears around.
Invest in FD for that case. If it is long term, find some safe Mutual Fund and go for it.
Go for 12% club
You get 12% interest on a daily basis depending on the amount invested annnddd you can withdraw anytime you want to!
Plus no tds
Yeah how safe is it?
Fixed deposit vpf REIT
30% FD 30% Gold 40% MFs
MF investments should be staggered to distribute risk and could be spread across multiple scheme types
FD for short term ..market are going to crash coz of upcoming recession
