Hourly wage vs salary maybe? I know “manager” positions at my company are salaried.
Office managers deal with a lot more from my experience… vendors, building needs and request can come from every tenant in your office. From spilled coffee, to A/V issues, to not liking the any selection of any products. Office managers are likely in charge of a small team of professionals as well so managing people is another aspect.
office managers manage "the office" and the needs of the office such as reception, vendors, ordering supplies, keeping snacks in stock, answer front desk phone. AAs support executive and manages, i.e calendar/travel/expenses/ad-hoc/registering for conference. AA's dont support the entire office but sometimes depending on the company, they may be asked to help with reception if an employee is absent
Sounds like a pretty accurate summary. There is sometimes a crossover of duties in smaller companies but in larger ones, an office manager does way more towards ensuring the office itself runs smoothly
